PLAYFUL AND PINK - IT'S BLOSSOM TIME

Fi Passey

The slightly crazy and fevered feelings that grips me in spring can only be explained by two things - being cooped up inside for too long as the British winter drags on and on; and the giddy joy the bubbles up when my foliage wholesaler announces that blossom has arrived.

The first varieties through are delicate apple and quince tree blossom before the main event - the fluffy, irresistible cherry blossom. There is literally no feeling like walking out of the Covent Garden market with a trolley bursting with petals.

For weddings, I like to keep it pure and use just blossom to create playful floral arches, floral clouds and installations.

Here's some inspo from The Pig at Barnsley in the Cotswolds when the sun shone and the blackbird sang its heart out from the tree behind the ceremony set up. Ahh, for days like these.

The stunning gardens at The Pig at Barnsley look fab in spring with silky white magnolia in flower and borders studded with bright tulips and alliums. It is a perfect English garden full of secret spaces and alluring vistas.

Carrying the pink vibe through to the marquee for the wedding reception, we went for a contemporary take for the table centrepieces with floral sculptures in a blend of pinky tones. I popped some pale pink bud vases with spring flowers between the bowl designs to continue the river of colour.

Layered serveware in blush and ivory, topped with a pashmina pink knotted napkin and cute bow finished the table setting whilst taper candles in tones of pink added to the rhythmic flow of the guest table.
